Wyndham Alltra Resort Tour Playa del Carmen by Barefoot Bride Sophia Wilder

My fiance and I are getting married in Playa del Carmen in 2026. While we’ve visited the city previously and fell in love with it, we decided to go back in November 2024 to tour resorts as venue options and as potential room block stays for our guests. When we arrived to Playa del Carmen and started exploring the city, we were immediately drawn to the Wyndham Alltra as an option that we wanted to see. Located in the heart of the city, the structure of the resort felt like a mix of tropical elegance combined with European class. This resort was a little different than others we toured because the outside of the resort blended into the other structures of the city.

We made a tour reservation and when we arrived, we were impressed by the security measures, as the entrance seems easily accessible to those on the street. Once we were vetted by security, we checked in for our appointment and met our tour guide. Immediately, we were impressed with her kindness and enthusiasm, which continued throughout the entire tour.

The lobby of the resort was impressive. It was absolutely stunning and again, gave off a luxurious European- tropical feel. This resort is a little smaller than other all-inclusives in the area but it’s equally impressive. With beautiful and plentiful restaurant options, we were certainly impressed. The pool areas were stunning with cabanas and plenty of seating. We were especially stunned by one particular wedding venue within the resort. This venue would comfortably fit around 70 guests and was a breathtaking gazebo overlooking the water. Unfortunately for us, this was not an option as we will be having well over 150 guests.

Our tour guide continued showing us the rooms in the resort, all beautiful and clean with a lot of character. Even the hallways leading us to the rooms were something special. With pillars and columns and greenery, this resort felt consistently luxurious. The resort is adults only, and we felt the relaxing vibe of it. So if you’re looking for a kids-friendly or more playful/party resort, this would definitely not be our first recommendation. However, if you’re looking for a smaller, more intimate, relaxing stay, we’d highly recommend staying here! Hopefully we will get to stay here in the future on a separate trip to enjoy all of the wonderful amenities and relaxing experience.
