The walkways are stunningly lush, which adds to the magic, but I’ll be honest: it was a bit of a maze at first. Just know it takes a minute to get your bearings, but once you do, it’s paradise.

The service at Secrets Akumal is unmatched. Every building has its own concierge, even if you’re not in the Preferred Club! From check-in to check-out, every interaction was warm, helpful, and elevated. The turn-down service each night was such a thoughtful touch (they even tidied the room!).
I stayed in a Junior Suite Swim Out and while it was absolutely beautiful and spacious, we barely spent time in the room. The setup included a separate toilet room and a large walk-in shower. My only critique? The lighting in the room and bathroom could be better, especially for makeup or getting ready.

Night 1: Welcome cocktail hour + dinner under the stars by the main pool. We worked with the events team to add décor (not included), and they were incredible in helping us bring our vision to life. The cocktails were top-notch, and the ambiance was chef’s kiss.
Night 2: Dinner at Seaside Grill- great food, beautiful setting.
Night 3: Dinner at the Italian restaurant- delicious, cozy, and a great way to end the trip.
There’s also nightly entertainment - our first night featured a “quiet party” with headphones and different music channels to dance the night away. It was such a fun and unique experience! They also have a night club (Desires) that is open until 2am and some bars throughout the resort.

The beach at Secrets Akumal is gorgeous and swimmable, though we did have some sargassum (totally normal depending on the season). It didn’t stop us from enjoying the water, and the team does a great job keeping things clean.
