We Toured the Blue Venado Tulum Venue by Barefoot bride Sophia Wilder

My fiance and I knew we wanted to have our wedding in Mexico. His family lives in Brazil, mine live across the US, and the majority of our friends live in the US as well. When looking for a destination for our wedding, we wanted somewhere that was easily accessible for both of our families, and not too much of a travel burden for our friends. Mexico was where we landed. We have previously been to Playa del Carmen for a friend’s wedding and knew we loved the town. However, our search was broadened across Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Los Cabos, in order to find the venue that worked best for us.

In the beginning of our planning process, I emailed many venues, hoping to gauge pricing, wedding options, and more. Among the venue correspondents who got back to me, was a venue planner from Blue Venado. Once we connected, we came to find that he was actually the wedding planner of our friends! Immediately, we knew we were in good hands. The next step was actually choosing between the three Blue Venado venues!

Our friends had gotten married at the Seaside venue so we crossed that one off the list. We were interested in touring both the Tulum and Pa’amul venues, both equally stunning, but with different vibes.

We took a mini vacation to tour the venues last November and drove our rental car from where we were staying in Playa del Carmen to Tulum. The drive was an enjoyable 45 minutes and as we had never been to Tulum before, we were very eager to see the city! Upon arriving at the venue, we saw a large building that blended in with the surrounding beach club style. Our planner welcomed us in, as he was already there setting up for a wedding that evening.

When I tell you the venue was stunning, it was STUNNING. The building was a two-floor, open concept, with the vibey style you’d hope for in Tulum. The high ceilings, sandy dance floor, and multiple bars offered the perfect party atmosphere. It was a sophisticated, yet beachy vibe and had many beautiful photo op areas. Tables could be arranged for seating on both levels, creating a cohesive reception experience and also providing areas to sit away from the noise of the DJ if needed.

And while the interior was amazing, the main attraction was the view and the beach. The open concept allowed the building to flow immediately into the stunning beach where most ceremonies and cocktail hours are held. Ceremonies are usually set up in front of the beautiful beach cove and although the building is next to others, it has a relatively private feel. Our planner also pointed out a hotel that was walking distance from the venue, which would have been very convenient for us and our guests!

We absolutely loved this venue and would have been more than happy to have our special day there. However, we ended up selecting the non-Tulum venue because we decided that Tulum, as a city, was not as accessible for our older guests to navigate. Similarly, as we have a decent amount of older family members, we decided a two story venue would have isolated those who wouldn’t be able to walk up and down the stairs freely. We preferred the venue closer to Playa del Carmen for this reason, but we truly loved the Blue Venado Tulum venue!
