Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: The Best Modern Budget-Friendly Wedding Resort That Still Feels Luxe
Modern, Luxe, and Surprisingly Affordable
Having opened its doors in November 2019 (followed by a temporary closure during COVID, and a very gradual reopening starting around mid‑2020 once Mexico started slowly lifting tourism restrictions) Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres still feels new, polished, and elegant, with its very modern aesthetic, clean architecture, and tropical touches. Think sleek and breezy with manicured landscaping with palm trees and greenery. The resort feels spacious and peaceful without being too quiet or sterile.
The food gets a solid B+ due to having plenty of variety between the buffet, à la carte spots, and snack bars and generally good reviews for taste and quality. Most couples love the steakhouse and Italian restaurant. While it’s not gourmet, it keeps guests happy.
Service is warm and attentive, especially if you upgrade to the Adult Only Elegance Club section which gives you butler service among a number of amazing, upgraded perks and amenities.
Amenities include a spa, multiple pools, swim-up bars, and so much more. The beach can be stunning, clear and swimmable, assuming there is no sargassum (which is seasonal).
Rooms are large, clean, and well-designed with whirlpool tubs and options for swim-ups (super popular amongst wedding guests) or rooftop terraces.
Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres marries (pun intended) modern luxury with affordability for your guests.
Wedding Venue Options: Lots of Beautiful Flexibility
While their rooftop Sky Wedding Gazebo with gorgeous ocean views is most often booked up first due to the privacy it affords and its modern vibe, Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres has beautiful venue options to choose from including a white Beachfront Gazebo on the sand with a gorgeous beach background and the Garden Gazebo, a pavilion-style white structure that screams subtle elegance, centrally situated in a gorgeous, shallow pool creating a reflective and tranquil ambiance.

You can join your guests for cocktail hour at the Piano Bar or Beach bar once you’re done with your post-ceremony photos, then celebrate your nuptials either in one of their restaurants (Mar House, Don Jaume, or Flavours) and follow it with a private reception party only or upgrade your entire celebration to a private reception, dinner included. Either way, your party can continue at the Beach, Piano Bar Terrace, or Ballroom.
If you chose the Sky venue, you can use the Sky Lounge and Terrace for the cocktail hour and private reception.
Tip: The Sky Terrace is one of the most sought-after locations, so lock it in early if you want it!
Wedding Packages: What You Actually Get
They have one wedding package (it costs $1,250 for a Symbolic Wedding) and you can get it for free with 105 paid room nights. This resort has a 4-night requirement for each of your guests, so getting to 105 room nights is easy enough with a guest list of at least 55 people.
You'll receive the ceremony, wedding coordinator, ironing of your wedding day attire, refreshments on the wedding day, sound system for the ceremony, tropical bouquet and boutonniere for the couple, a tropical floral table arrangement for the ceremony, a bag of petals for the flower girl.

In addition, you'll receive a sparkling wine toast, wedding cake, and the semi-private dinner for up to 60 in one of the restaurants. Adding people to the dinner is just $10 per person.
Plus, you’ll also receive a room upgrade (subject to availability), 10% discount at the spa on the day of the wedding, welcome selection of sweets, romantic breakfast in your room, romantic candlelit dinner with sparkling wine for the two of you, complimentary message for the two of you and use of the hydrotherapy area, and a basket of fruit and bottle of sparkling wine in your room when you arrive.
You can add a cocktail hour for as little as $8 per person and that includes 3 cold and 2 hot appetizers and 1-hour of open bar.
If you want a private reception dinner, you can upgrade your semi-private dinner to a private reception dinner for $60 per person for the Classy Buffet and 3 hours of open bar. Add an additional hour for $15 per person per hour.
And what’s a wedding without some dancing? A DJ/MC for 4 hours is just $800 and $170 for each additional hour.
The cost of their décor and other upgrades/add-ons is also reasonable, but you’ll likely need lighting for the outdoor venues, and want a dance floor, plus florals/centerpieces for your reception if you’re doing a private dinner.
Example Cost of Wedding with 55 Guests: $5,705!
Symbolic Package: free with 105 room nights
Cocktail hour ($8 per guest): $440
4-Hour Reception with Classy Buffet ($60 per guest plus $15 for the extra hour): $4,125
DJ/MC for 6 hours (to cover ceremony, cocktail hour, and 4-hour reception): $1,140
What I love: Their pricing is transparent, and they let you customize add-ons without forcing you into overpriced upgrades.
Final Thoughts from a Wedding Specialist
Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres punches way above its price point, especially for couples looking for a modern and stylish setting with a good mix of elegance and fun, entertainment, and an affordable stay for their guests, plus very affordable weddings.
It’s one of my favorite recommendations for couples who want to impress their guests and still stay on budget.
